Daytona 500, 1960, 2nd Ever Running at the Speedway This is a film clip taken from a reel-to-reel project that I produced for an outside family that happened to attend the 2nd ever running of the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway. The quality is not that great – but it is in color, which is quite unique for the day and age in which this footage was shot (the family was wealthy and actually flew their own plane to Daytona). Besides watching for the guy picking his nose in the middle of the video, things to look for are the early days of the original Tower at the Tri-Oval, the clear view of the backstretch from the main grandstand, the infield void of the garages, the proximity of the grandstands to the fence, and of course, the cars
